Gretchen Boyer


Gretchen A. Boyer has earned both her BFA in Studio Art (drawing and painting) and Art Education and MA in Art Education with an emphasis in Fibers and Clay from Michigan State University. Her doctorate in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University further defines and expands her strong desire to promote strong arts programs, both in the schools and the community. Dr. Boyer has taught at the elementary, secondary and higher education levels and served as an education program specialist for nine years at the Arizona Department of Education in the areas of Fine Arts, Assessment and General Curriculum.

As an artist/educator Dr. Gretchen A. Boyer understands the needs of visual artists and knows the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to be developed to become successful artists. For over 30 years, Dr. Boyer has provided opportunities for artists, students and teachers to meet and exceed their personal expectations. She has been a judge and jurist for numerous art shows ranging from K-12 shows to community shows and other events.

Currently, Gretchen is working in clay, mixed media and fibers. Her work depicts human emotion through a kinship with nature and the spiritual realm. Her work has been represented in a variety of personal collections, shows, and exhibits.

Gretchen has been married to David J. Boyer for nearly 50 years! They enjoy living in Fountain Hills and spending summers in Pinetop, AZ or traveling all over the world! When they are home they enjoy driving and restoring their little British cars, going to auto shows, hiking, swimming and viewing movies.
